Abstract:
Neuroinflammation has become a hallmark of neurological complications, such as perioperative neurocognitive disorders(PND). PND is a recently recommended overarching term for cognitive impairment in preoperative and postoperative, which is characterized as a decline in cognitive functions including memory, attention, information processing and cognitive flexibility.PND is associated with longer hospitalization and more treatment costs, mortality and disability rates in patients with PND are higher than those in nonPND patients resulting in a huge communal burden. However, the pathogenesis of PND is still unclear . Increasing evidence suggests that neuroinflammation is a key factor in PND . In this paper, we summarize the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neuroinflammation in PND, discuss two kinds of diseases of PND, and list some therapeutic methods under study.
