Abstract:
VANGL is a four-pass transmembrane protein, which is one of the key componentsof the planar cell polarity (PCP) signaling pathway. VANGL is involved in several embryonic development and morphogenetic processes, including neural tube closure, cilia orientation, et al. The onset and metastasis of cancer are usually associated with abnormally reactivation of signaling pathways controlling embryonic development. Therefore, the role of VANGL in cancer is focused. This review summarizes the structure and function of VANGL in cancer.
